Learn from Sadness

No life is perfect. Bad things are just going to happen no matter how hard you try to prevent them. That’s just a fact of life. When bad things happen, it’s okay to be sad. It’s normal to be sad. Don’t try to talk yourself out of being sad. The sadness comes to honor the bad event, whatever it was – maybe a hurricane, a death in the family, a pet that ran away, or a favorite item that got stolen. The sadness comes to remind you of how precious things were. The sadness will not stay with you forever. Just let it have it’s moment and it will pass. Do not wallow in it, either. When it is ready to leave you, bid it farewell, thank it for its lesson to you, and resume more positive emotions. However, whatever the lesson is that sadness came to teach you – make sure you learn it or it will be back again soon. Perhaps it came to teach you to keep your purse with you when you go to a club or to tie your dog up when you let him outside. Whatever the lesson, learn it now or learn it later. Sadness is never too busy to return to teach you a lesson you failed to learn.
